Member's aircraft include: standard certificated airplanes, classic aircraft, and custom planes certificated under the experimental category. Their aircraft are based at John Tune (JWN), Nashville International (BNA) and Smyrna (MQY) airports.
The chapter is run by a board of directors that are elected to a two year term.
Monthly Meetings
EAA Chapter 162 meets monthly at 7:00 pm on the 3rd Thursday at the John C. Tune (JWN) Airport. Come early (6:30 pm) for food, refreshments and social time. Meetings are held in either the terminal building or Shelby Smith's hangar #444. Check the individual program announcements for which location at the airport is being used.
Programs and Events
Chapter events and presentations on aviation oriented topics, fly outs, and social gatherings are scheduled periodically. Notice of these events are posted in the Event Calendar and distributed via the chapter group email list.
Young Eagles
The chapter is a big supporter of the Young Eagles program which is designed to introduce kids age 8 to17 to flying. The chapter holds two or three Young Eagles events each year one of which is in November and usually covers the Boy Scout Aviation Merit Badge requirements. In 2006, the chapter sponsored its first candidate to the EAA Flight Camp at Oshkosh.
